May 19, 2014 The Superintendent’s Office received notice late Friday afternoon, that a District 186 employee had a confirmed case of mumps. The employee had not been in any schools during that week or in contact with any students during the time he/she was contagious with mumps and therefore no students were exposed to the individual with mumps. Kindergarten Preview Night

Mar 4, 2014 District 186 will be holding Kindergarten Preview Night on Thursday, March 27th from 6:00 -- 7:00 pm at every District elementary school. Children who turn five years old on or before September 1st, 2014, are encouraged to attend K-night at their home school. All Springfield Public Schools Dismiss an Hour Early, August 27 - 30

Aug 26, 2013 Interim Superintendent, Robert A. Leming announces that all schools will dismiss an hour early Wednesday, August 28, Thursday, August 29 and Friday, August 30, 2013 of this week as a protective measure for students (with the exception of Ball Charter School). Feb 3, 2012 1948 - 2012Long-time teacher and coach Dana A. Rountree passed away Tues., Feb. 1 at Memorial Medical Center. He will be missed by his students, colleagues and the community-at-large.A science teacher, Mr. Rountree began his career at Franklin Middle School in 1971. Oct 27, 2011 Thursday morning, Springfield High School administrators placed the school on security alert after learning of a perceived threat concerning the school made on a social media site.The district and SHS take these matters seriously and followed proper protocol to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff.
